Wer schon mal versucht hat z.B. das Regenradar von Wetteronline auf dem iPhone anzugucken kennt das Problem: Man sieht nur ein Standbild statt einem Daumenkino. Nach meinen Erlebnissen mit .mobi Domains gewarnt, förderte eine kurze Suche das Problem zu Tage: Wenn Animated GIFs eine bestimmte Größe überschreiten, zeigt Safari Mobile tatsächlich nur den ersten Frame. iPhone Safari .mobi magic

Several weeks I was puzzling about a mystical rendering difference of bitwise identical html documents. The official documentation sadly wasn’t too helpful, but this post finally solved it: .mobi domains silently get different rendering defaults. Isn’t that nuts? Many thanks to Christopher for enlightening this obscure fact.
